Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Scoiedad has almost given up the idea of signing Barcelona Atlètic wing attacker Jeffren Suárez (21) on loan this summer.

Because it is believed that Jeffren will be promoted to Barcelona's first team (read more here), the Spanish second division club would now start to look at other options.

Cantabria regional newspaper El Diario Montañés meanwhile also claims that a loan of Jeffren to Racing Santander is getting unlikely because of the player's good performances during the pre-season. The final decision would nevertheless only be made by Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola after Barcelona has returned from the United States.

Madrid sports tabloid As claims that Spanish second division club Real Sociedad is interested in several Barcelona Atlètic players.

Real Sociedad sports director Lorenzo Juarros "Loren" would already have talked to Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain to ask about the situation of Barcelona Atlètic midfielders Xavi Torres (22), Abraham (23) and Thiago (18) and wing attacker Jeffren (21 - picture).

Because of the bad financial situation of the club, Sociedad is looking to sign youth players from big clubs on loan. All four players mentioned would also have received offers from Spanish first division and/or foreign clubs. Basque regional newspaper El Diario Vasco claims that Sociedad is especially interested in a one-year loan of Jeffren.

Three candidates to become back-up of Valdes

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is looking to replace Barcelona third goalkeeper Albert Jorquera (30), who will most probably leave in the summer.

After having searched the market for several months, the possible candidates would have been reduced to a short-list of three: Real Valladolid goalkeeper and Spanish youth international Sergio Asenjo (19), Mallorca goalkeeper Miguel Àngel Moyà (25 - picture) and Recreativo Huelva goalkeeper and Real Sociedad loan out Asier Riesgo (25).

Asenjo was the main option but the player would want to become the first-choice goalkeeper at his new club and seems now very close to joining Atlético Madrid (read more here). Moyà and Riesgo would accept to be the back-up of Valdés and both are expected to leave their clubs during the transfer window.

Mallorca wants to sell one of their three goalkeepers and thinks Moya, who would be delighted to join Barcelona, could get them a higher fee than Dudu Aouate and Germán Lux. Moyà, whose contract expires in 2011, was last summer already close to an exit, and Mallorca president Mateo Alemany would now feel morally obliged to let him go if an offer from a big club comes in.

Because of the economic situation of the club, second division team Real Sociedad has informed Riesgo's agent that they plan to sell the goalkeeper this summer. Barcelona would already have asked for Riesgo and the transfer fee wouldn't be more than 1 million euro°. Villarreal would also be interested in the Basque goalkeeper.

Basque regional newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa claimed last week that Spanish secod division club real Sociedad was interested Barcelona Atlètic attacker Víctor Vázquez (21), who started the pre-season with the first team (read more here).

Barcelona and Sociedad had been holding negotiations on a loan deal. Because Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has an excellent relationship with Real Sociedad manager Juan Manuel Lillo (read more here), the Basque club was seen as the ideal team for Vázquez to keep on growing.

Asked about the rumours, Vázquez' agent Horacio Gaggioli confirmed the information to the newspaper: "There are several clubs that have shown interest and Real Sociedad is one of them. We're talking now with Barcelona. I'm unaware if the clubs are also directly negotiating.

Víctor has the ambition to play in the first division but who doesn't consider Real Sociedad to be a first division club? I don't know if the two managers have a good relationship but if that's the case, I guess everything will be more easy. But for him to leave before the end of the transfer window, things will have to change quickly since Barcelona now prefers to keep him."

Gaggioli told Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo that he had also been talking with Real Sociedad. In the end, Víctor Vázque stayed with Barcelona Atlètic.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona Atlètic (previously known as Barcelona B) is interested in Real Sociedad midfielder Daniel Estrada (21).

Second division club Sociedad is nevertheless not at all willing to let go the player, who made his debut in the Spanish Primera División during the 2006-2007 season.
