Athletic Bilbao central defender Fernando Amorebieta (picture) and forward Fernando Llorente looked at a press conference forward to Sunday's super cup's game against Barcelona.

Amorebieta
"We think we're capable of defeating Barcelona. If that wasn't the case, we wouldn't play this game.

We cannot relax just because they have several injuries. Like we have seen during the pre-season, they have excellent youth players and they will be very motivated. I think it will be important that we keep a clean sheet."

Llorente
"Barça is the best club in the world. They have some incredible players and it will be very difficult but in football, you never know. At home we have more chances to win because of the pressure we can put, but even with a good result, nothing will be decided. It's a chance to win a trophy and we will give everything."

Anonymous said...: Man, we shud ve bought Llorente. He is a phenomenon - Monster in the air, also has the knack of pressurizing the defenders and has good feet. He would have been the perfect back up for Ibra.
And since we are fighting for six trophies, we would have quality on the bench and at the same time he would be playing at least 30 matches this season. And he has a great respect for barca.; 14 August 2009 at 21:18
rahul said...: completely agree i was mooting for his move, but our stupid and hypocrite board paid 43m + etoo seriously this is teh biggest steal since football started. we needed someone who is strong in teh air n llorente is one of teh best headers around plus he can hit shots from long range and has greta technique. i still wish he comes at barca.; 15 August 2009 at 11:15
