Cesc father thinks transfer is unlikely

Asked about the rumours linking Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (22) with a move to Barcelona (read more here), the player's father Francesc Fàbregas has said in an interview with Catalan radio station COM Ràdio that a transfer is unlikely at this moment:

"Cesc is Catalan and culé, and that's of course something he always carries with him. But Cesc has to give everything for the club he's currently playing for, independent of having this feeling.

I don't know anything about the rumoured interest of Barcelona. If that would become a reality one day, I will welcome that, but as a professional and out of respect for Arsenal, where they have always treated him very well, he cannot say anything about those rumours.

I sincerely think that this transfer to Barça won't go through. Of course, the world of football is a crazy world and you never know, but at this moment I think that he will stay with Arsenal. He's totally involved with the club and is very motivated to do something with the team. Cesc is 100 per cent an Arsenal player."

without xavi our midfield is dead no creativity at all. And with euros, confed, and 60+ games and world cup comin, no way xavi will play all of them.

i guess, we shud just hand la liga to real, unless we get another CREATIVE midfielder

maybe moutinho then? We were rumoured to be interested in him a few years back, he could provide the much needed creativity in our midfield when xavi need a rest. Sneijder would be nice but why leave real madrid's bench for barca's bench right?

Sad to say gdampeer but andres looks a little more injury prone than messi at the moment. Putting our faith on him being fit for the whole season without a backup plan isnt exactly smart money right now.

Dont lose hope just yet! I'm sure the board have something up their sleve! Cmon we're a financially healthy club and they have the resources to get anyone they want so if they really want Cesc they will get him no matter what it takes! Visca la Barca!!!

i am so disapointed to hear people want ventongen modric affelay and turan and think those are barca material players....sorry but no. i left kompany out cause he has a shot but at a different position and his acuirement would help a little the squad cause he can rotate,but when we talk about creativity and names like the others up are mentioned .........i am sad.

2 players we should be only interested for the creative midfielder spot one is fabregas and the other is silva,only those can fit perfectly and the money spend on them will be well spent.

What do you expect after Txiki and co were very slow in signing players.i personally doubted whole heartedly that we will get him and sure "WE WON'T GET HIM EVEN IF WE INCREASE OUR BID"do you think Arsenal are dumb guys there.Well i am sad the deal didn't go through but if it is to send some "senses" into Txiki's head then great the deal failed.We must understand that although Arsene Wenger "knows" he may never win a trophy,he will not like his star man to leave only for people to accuse him again for always selling when Mn city are now chasing 4th spot,and i believe it is a wise decision for Arsenal.Sure next season we will get him but this is coming early so that we can look out for possible replacement rather quick.

You are missing out on some thing... these guys are no starters for Barca. But they are pretty good to provide rotation, to give the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Messi & Alves an occasional rest. If you really do want to sign a proper Barca starting material profiled player, I'm sorry but they wouldn't sign, such a good player wouldn't want to be a second fiddle to none. I do want Torres, Ramos, Essien, Rooney ,etc to back up our guys. But they are not gonna sign for us even if we are ready to afford them :(

Yeah we desperatly need a midfielder. With Iniestas injuries and Xavi getting old we don't have any good replacement for them. Keita and Busquets are fine, but they don't bring any creativity to the game.

I don't want anyone too young... We have quality players in the midfield from our youth system. Jonathan and Thiago will be awesome in some years!

if it were upto me, i wouldn't sign anyone, i would just sign a RB(eboue) to backup alves and thats it... i know this is Barca the biggest club in the world and many might think its a shame that we don't have a backup for xavi but that is how we got xavi and the only way we can get another xavi is if we don't sign anybody and look to our youth ranks. None of the above mentioned know the philosophy of this great club better than OUR YOUTH. i would mauch rather give opportunities to Thiago and Jonathan to backup Xavi than buy cesc for 40 mill. If we buy Cesc that would mean we might give away thiago and Jonathan for almost free again only to get them back for 40 mill another 3-4 years later saying they have Barca DNA in them just like we are doing with cesc now because if we get cesc now all the mid's in the youth will loose hope and leave.

Its a disgrace how people are asking the board to spend 40-50 mill on a former youth product who does not even mind if he plays for MADRID, im really dissapointed at seing such cules..

that is what we thought even last year remember, we had only 5 mids in xavi, iniesta, keita, toure, guddy and everyone was worried about that, but then pep came up with busquets who did so well in his first season in first division that he earned a call upto the spain national team, nobody even knew about busi before pep play him that league game but when we have two of the most talented mids in oriol romeu, thiago alcantara and jonathan dos santos u people are asking for fabregas?? I know many are worried without xavi there will be no creativity but i am not at all worried its only if we are forced to(lack players) will we use our youth and if we keep buying superstars we will become like madrid who keep loosing all their youth because they don't have a place in their squad for them... this is BARCA and YOUTH is our way!!

P.S: to the person who said busi dosen't have any creativity i ask him when did he start watching football??

Busquets is not a creative midfielder. Pep was using him as CB for crying out loud. If we are going to depend on Busquets to run our midfield against a chelsea we are in deep deep trouble.

I love Thiago and Dos Santos but neither of them has the Barca DNA like cesc. Cesc was born in catalonia brought into the stadium from the time he was a few months old, grew up in Barca. He is more cule than dos santos or thiago. Sorry but that is the fact.

Look i'm all for Dos Santos and Thiago getting mins like Bojan and Busquets got last season, but remember we are in this business to win things. Depending on 2 players that have played 1 la liga game between them to run our offence which is essentially what they will be doing in case of a xavi injury of burnout is just 1 step too far for those youngsters. We dont want what happened with gio dos santos to happen to them. We need more cover for the midfield.

really?? you think cesc really loves barca as much as u think?? a catalan and apparently a die hard cule who hopes his dad would understand if he plays for madrid...
as far as i am concerned that is not a die hard cule and he definitely is not a true cule, his father might say watever he wants but the minute he said he wouldn't mind playing for madrid for me its done and i would never love him as much as i love xavi even if he comes back to barca one day and does better than him xavi...

even busquets never played a league game before last season for that matter and infact he was playing in the 4th division, atleast thiago played in the 3rd division last year and his technique is impeccable and talking about being a true cule he recently left his childhood lover for the sake making the Barca first team... both jonathan, thiago had the opportunity to leave just like cesc had but both of them rejected it especially thiago for whom scouts from all the big clubs were literally begging him to join their clubs but unlike ur true cule cesc he stayed at Barca... btw even thiago, jonathan, oriol romeu were at the club since they were 12, 12, childhood respectively

First off I dont want to sound unkind but get over the real madrid thing. It was one of those questions that reporters ask to get a certain answer. So they will ask you

"Would your parents still love you if you chose to play for real madrid"

And you would reply

"My parents would love me no matter what I chose to do"

all of a sudden its

"Cesc willing to play for Real Madrid" in the headlines.

As for Busquets, he wasnt required to run the midfield. He just had to sweep up in front of the defence. Its much more difficult to run the offence like xavi does.

Look lets not play games. Everybody saw the games in the US. If Dos Santos cant run the game against LA Galaxy and Chivas and we needed dani alves and other players to create the attacking opportunities for the team chances are he isnt ready for the amount of repsonsibility that he will have to take if xavi goes down injured. Thiago looked average from what i heard at the recent u-20 european championships. Not exactly the best way to prove you are ready for first team action.

Finally you dont get more cule than cesc. Born in catalonia. Dos Santos and Thiago were not born into the Barcelona Real Madrid rivalry. They did not grow up cheering on barca, the first clubs they dreamt of were other teams. That is a fact you cant deny that. This is not knocking the other players but this is a fact

Cesc will not be leaving this year. The best bet for Barca is to do as much courting as possible this year, and if Arsenal has another bad season, Cesc will definitely leave but not this year.

wow people put too much faith in young kids these days,dos santos?what creativity?all he did in preseason was move the ball... oriol?where is he?he sure didnt play with the first team in the preseason.and you put the teams creativity on those 2 young kids? if xavi gets injured we most likely will play with keita or busi in xavi's role or iniesta will have to be a god or sth on the field ...

the youngsters will get their chances in small games but i doupt they will be used in big matches.busquets earned his trust with solid performances all the year and if you saw last years preseason you knew that he would stay with the first squad cause he performed amazing there,sth that cant be said for any youngster this year(all were mediocre with muniesa and fontas showing some potential,and the striker ruben rochina played good)but they are nowhere near first team lvl yet.

remember last year where for 6-8 very hard games pep used the same team ,not trusting bojan,hleb,guddy, and with pedro injured.....what if then we had some serius injuries?do you want it to be repeated this year?if a player is not counted by the coach he shouldnt be with the first team and by the diagram we saw in the sport article pep doesnt want guddy this year,victor sanchez will be loaned out ,we will be a smaller squad than last year (thats the big mistake pep was trying to avoid).

so basically what i am trying to say is we need a player that can rotate now with the big players,not in the future,and in order to do so he has to be a big player.thats what we need thats why we needed masherano(txiki failed ,madrid succeded not only they got xabi they blocked our transfer too ,huge failure for txiki and i wonder why hasnt anyone said it yet....),and thats why we need fabregas(another huge failure,if he was faster ,before arsenal sold toure and adebayor ,fabregas would have gotten his exit easier)

so in the end i count this as txiki fault,like with villa,he failed and then he overpaid for ibra,now he failed for masherano he has to overpay for fabregas.i think he will.i think till tuesday the fabregas saga will end with good result.also for people that say wenger wont sell for so low money,think it this way if he doesnt sell him for 40-45 mil next year fab leaves for 25.arsenal wants that money and this year they reconstruct their squad,they are gonna create new players (i bet merida will take fabregas shoes this year,its not like they dont have a replacment).

pep never used busi as a CB, get ur facts right mate... busi was a CF in his youth days but pep converted him into a DM when he took over the B team....

btw u saying jonathan couldn't run the midfield against LA Galaxy??? which game did u watch excatly? because from wat i saw he was superd in that game, i suggest u to go watch that game again... against chivas i agree he was average but he was playing with the likes of jeffren, henrique on the right in that game whereas xavi played alongside messi and alves in the chivas game so u can't really blame him for not being close to xavi's influence... im not saying jonathan is anywhere close to being xavi but in the future he will be close...

the fact is neither can fabregas be of xavi's inflence its only the english media overyping him, hes very good but not as much as all of u think of him and as for thaigo being moderate in U-20, then so was Fabregas in the Confed cup... don't expect the lads to produce straight away mate, give them time give them some 10-12 games to adjust to 1st division level u will see their real talent, pique was average at best when he came back to barca last year but look how he became now, he can be consideres among the elites of the CB's...

as per that cesc willing to play for real madrid thing is concerned i read that interview and this is wat he said "i hope my parents would understand if i play for Real Madrid one day" and the reporter asked "is it possible you would play for madrid" then he said, "everything is possible in football"... so u tell me what kind of a true cule would say that?? if u really are a die hard cule u would straight tell madrid to f*** off, even pique left barca at a young age but if u ever ask if he culd play for barca his reply would always be one unlike ur cesc...

oriol romeu is DM, he went to the U20's with thiago where he was one of the best players in the spain team,hence he could not play the preseason. He is considered one of the brightest talents in the la masia roght now...

I saw somewhere that pep used busquets as a CB in the b team last season around the time when we were short of CB's. I believe it was on the FCBarcelona.com website.

10-12 games? They are to get mins like bojan. In the copa and in some CL and a few league games. Not to be backup already.

Nobody says cesc will have xavi's influence but he had over 20 assists in the BPL the season before last. Neither thiago nor Dos Santos can claim anything close

I wont comment again on the fabregas comments because i cannot find the article online and I dont want to get into a debate without facts about what was actually said.

Nasri Barazite Denilson Diaby Ramsey Wishire (who capello said could be in the england squad for the world cup) Arsenal have more than enough cover for the CM position. I dont know where you say Merida is on loan but last i heard he said he didnt know where his future was.

nasri is out injured for 3-4 months, so is rosicky and wilshere is a winger not CM and neither are nasri and rosicky deep lying CM for that matter and wenger plays them on the wing... and do u really think a denilson or ramsey be able to replace fabregas?? backup i can understand but first 11, really?? ramsey is again an overhype by the english media... btw fabregas had a top class partner like gilberto silva alonside him in the midfield but who does ramsey have?? alexander song?? lolllzz....

they already lost 2 first teamers in adebayor and toure and they haven;t even bought a replacement for them yet and u think they would sell another, let alone finding a replacement first them which im sure wenger would never find...

it dosen't matter because fabregas is a deep lying play maker whereas nasri is an out and out attaking midfielder and hence cannot replace fabregs and he anyways plays on the wings for arsenal...

Nasri can play in the centre as well. He isnt called the next zidane because he is a winger. But the point is arenal have a plethora of young promising central midfielders that they can use to replace fabregas as they did last season when fabregas was injured out for 2-3 months. They believe in letting youth play in their first team so its not as if by losing fabregas they do not have ready made replacements.

See the problem with you guys is that you think it must always be like for like. Ok nasri may not be fabregas but he can play in a more central role and let diaby or denilson do the dirty work while he creates further up the field. It isnt always like for like. Sometimes the new player can bring different things. Its the same principle as replacing etoo with zlatan. Zlatan is not as good a finisher we know, but he brings other things.

Because busquets is not creative enough. We've seen what he can do and quite honestly i had to defend him on these very boards last season by people who were bashing him and saying he is not very good.

I dont mind if we get another creative midfielder. If its moutinho or van der vaart type midfielder who bring something different once they can bring the creativity to our midfield.

Depending on a 19 year old to come in and run your midfield is foolhardy.

And Zidane was never a winger. Attacking Mid, Attacking left-central mid anything like that. Never a pure winger.

if u think arsenal can play a 17 year old youngster as their starter then why can't we use our youngster who are from the best academy in the world and have the best youth play atleast as a backup for xavi?? just because we won the treble dosen't mean we should get some horns and go on a spending spree, promoting and playing the youth at a young age is wat we have done throughout the history of this club and we should still do that... just because we have won a champions league or treble dosen't mean we have to spend 100 mill a season like madrid do... we have already spent a lot of money on ibra and if we spend another 40-50 mill it will be the most insane thing barca would ever do imo...

Simple answer. What have arsenal won recently? Thats why we dont put 17 year olds to back up our best players.

Nobody is saying go on a spree. If we do purchase Fabregas it will be a long term investement and honestly i'm the one that kept saying buy players in the 27-28 age range so our youngsters like thiago can take over in 2-3 years time.

Most insane thing barca would ever do? Please barca spent close to 100 mill last season and we spent some money the season before that too. The season we got ronaldinho we came close to 100 million as well. Its nothing new for us to spend this much if we are investing for the long term future of the squad

Busquets doesnt have the creativity. Face facts. He will be a good DM, but he isnt the creative force that can run our offence if xavi goes down. He is far from the finished article and needs to improve his passing.

Dani alves was 35 million by the time we paid incentives Pique 7.5, Hleb 16.5, Keita 14, Caceres 15, Henrique 8. thats 90 million last season.

we spent 90 mill last year but we recouped 50 mill of that from player sales... we spent 70 mill the year before that but we recouped 20 mill... we did not spend 100 mill the year we got ronaldinho btw...

and we spend 100 mill this season and what are we getting back?? send hleb on loan for free, same with caceres and keirrison, sylvinho contract ended and sell guddy for what, 5 mill?? so thats like 100 mill or more - 5 mill... if that is not insane then what??

as for the long term thing, i think that is wat the \YOUTH/ is for LONG TERM.... if fabregas really loved this club he would never let barca pay that much for him to arsenal especially since he went missing for 2 months before everyone came to know he signed for arsenal academy...

sachin arsenal doesnt have the expectations of barca so they can use a 17yr old as a starter.barca cant....a player has to get used to playing to the team and gain his playing time slowly,such as puyol had done ,xavi,messi,iniesta,bojan,gabri,oleguer all the same,noone of them was promoted to cover an important role at the start of their career and you cant expect barca to have such faith in dos santos....

busquets is dm,he was used in the mc position quite often by pep too this year,but he is not capable of playing the amc position.wayyyy he gave 2-3 great passes lets make him an amc....its not like that,busquets vision and creativity arent great at the moment and he is NEEDED in dm/mc position(remember keita/yaya leaving?what if xavi gets injured then?will we play with marquez dm,busquets mc and dos sants amc? do you expect us to win like that ?offcourse we have messi/ibra/iniesta,but still our midfield will suck and you cant say that it will go well.....)

In 2004 7 million guily, 10 million edmilson, 2 million sylvinho, 24 million Etoo, 15 Million + quaresma. Thats close to 60 million in 2004. We have spent when we needed to renovate. This year we did not need to sell as much because we won the triple and our finances are good. In past years the board was trying to fix our finances and clear some of our debts so that is why we needed to recoup money to cover what we bought.

I agree with having our youth in the first team squad. But not as direct cover for key positions. Look at our front line. We already have pedro jeffren Bojan covering the front 3 and quite possibly muniesa as cover at the back. There is space for youth but not as direct cover.

can you tell me the amount we recouped by player sales as well...

we still have a debt of 300 mill mate, its not like we don't have a debt...

our budget for this season(as per barca econmic president joan boix) after the profit was 60-80 mill which includes money for transfers, paying off the debt and investing in future assests like real estates etc. and as of now we have spent 65 mill on just transfers and if we spend another 40 we will have to make debts by taking bank loans leave alone paying off the already existing debts...
