At a local town meeting in Catalonia, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has unconfirmedly told journalists that the transfer of Inter Milan forward and Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic (27) isn't necessarily linked with the exit of Barcelona player Samuel Eto'o although at this moment the option that Eto'o is not part of the deal is not being considered:
"The negotiations on the transfer of Ibrahimovic are going well. Ibrahimovic was from the start one of the options for our technical department. I think finding a deal on this transfer can be a perfect solution that would satisfy all parties involved.
It can solve the situation of certain players. Situations that need to be solved, because the technical staff wants it, which is basic, and because we solve a possible conflict situation that could arise if we wouldn't reach an agreement, in that sense that we need to sign another centre forward and that would force others to leave.
Eto'o is the best centre forward in the world and he can join one of the best clubs in the world, with a coach who already talked with him and who is delighted to have him in his squad and with a president, Massimo Moratti, who is enthusiastic about signing him. He can join a club where he will be respected and where he'll sure feel good."
