Mata will use Barcelona offer to get pay rise

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Valencia left wing attacker and Spanish international Juan Mata (21) will use the personal offer he received from Barcelona to try to get a pay rise.

The father and agent of Mata will meet next week with Valencia officials to discuss a renewal of the player's contract, that was signed when he arrived as youth player two years ago and which makes him earn a salary of 500 000 euro a year.

Despite the promise of Valencia to upgrade the contract and several meetings over the last month, the player and the club haven't been able to find a deal and Valencia would even want to postpone the talks until next summer. The club has reportedly asked the agent to show them the offers other clubs would have made so they can make a better assessment of the situation. It is now believed that the personal offer made by Barcelona will be put on the table during a new meeting next week.

ibra, chygr, maxwell, mata with pedro and VS, using munisea, thiago, gai and we would have a great squad. do we have the money though?
guess it depends on ibra deal. 20mil for chygr 20mil for mata, 40mil max for ibra, would be nice if it could happen like this!

You forget the 20M we already spend on Keirrison and Maxwell... I honestly don't know where we are getting the money, last season they did a "special effort" and still we just spent 50M (net).

i dont think our offer for chryncinskty is 20mil....and i bet if they dont settle for a 12-14 mil deal we wont get him.also i dont think we are gonna offer 20mil for mata ,more like 14-16mil final offer i think.

i really want mata and i would sacrifice the cb deal cause we have henrique and muniesa ,but i also want pedro and gai to get more chances this year so i dont know.one thing i am sure is giving jeffren on loan i dont think he is first team material but maybe that can change with a loan move

I also think that Barca should sell some players but now it seems to be impossible if both Hleb and Caceres leave on loan. So we can sell only Guddy for 5-6 million. Barca can forget a LW if the team buys a game- winning attacking midfielder who can rotate with Xavi and Iniesta. Pep has said that he wants a larger squad, but why is he sending several players on loan!? It seems obvious that Pep, Txiki and Laporta have different opinions what comes to transfers, thats why the team didnt sign anybody before mid July. Gai, Pedro etc should play only if they are good enough and if the team doesnt drop points because of them. We saw yesterday that Barca B players can move the ball but like I expected they had problems to create clear chances because they lack the cutting edge in front of goal.

m8 you have to understand that the football of barca is moving the ball with the lowest risk and those kids yesterday just did that,they dont lack the cutting edge infront (pedro's chance)they just want to not lose the ball by their fault and so they dont go in 1 vs 1 like iniesta /henry /messi are doing. those kids have their futures at stake right now and they are afraid that if they lose 2-3 times the ball they are gonna get sucked at b team.it was the same with bojan and you can see he clearly has more confidence in his game.i bet that if gai gains more confidence with the first team he will be a greater asset than mata but i doupt that will happen in a year,also this year we have a very tiny squad at the moment(if you exclude the young ones)and we need more "Ready" players.

offcourse young players can rotate with the starters ,use 1-2 youngsters at a time not a whole squad,and that way they get expirience ,the team moves the ball great and we also have cutting edge by more expirienced players.

He would be a good signing but trying to sign a player from Valencia is like pulling teeth . Valencia's board and president are total dickheads . I don't see this happening at all !!

I think we can get Mata now that the Ibra position is settled. Even if we offer him 5X the salary it doesn't dent our salary structure. If I'm not mistaken Barca value him around 10-15mil during the Villa+Mata earlier bid. We still have about 4-5 weeks to complete this deal.

It's not about the salary, but about the transfer fee, buj. And no way he'll get out for less than 25 millions.

Yes that what I mean. His salary will be so low compared to our 1st teamers that it won't be a problem. The price that I quote is the one I remembered when we bid for Villa+Mata, around 60-65mil (I think, unless that was just media rumour)

But having seen Valencia steadfastness on Villa, and seeing Barca willing to spend on Ibra, I'm sure he won't be cheap unless Mata himself insist on leaving.

How much will Valencia be willing to compete with his potential Barca salary, will determine our bid and Valencia asking price, IMO.

Mata is a great player, but i don't think we need him. he is young, and would take the place of Gai or Pedro. If we give Gai, Pedro and Bojan some more trust, they will preform better. Henry works fine for now, but It's true that he is getting old. If we would buy a Winger, I don't see us buying a young one. In 5 years Bojan, Pedro, Gai and Messi will all be at their top. What we need is someone to take over after Henry while Gai, Pedro and Bojan are growing.

That's why we havn't had any big interest in Aguero. Buying Ibra is perfect. He is a great player, but havn't yet won CL. He knowns he has 3-5 years left as a top-player. He has the hunger, and he has the quality. In 3-5 years Bojan will be atleast as good as Aguero, and ready to take over after Ibra.

LOL..Death-free I don't know but debt-free, yes, final loan payment by october this year if I'm not mistaken the financial report state the other day.
