Catalan radio station RAC 1 claims that Barcelona could be interested in Fenerbahçe forward and Spanish international Daniel 'Dani' Güiza (28).

I don't want Guiza!! I hope this isn't what Laporta meant when he said we had "other options" besides Villa. Guiza is not a replacement for Villa and he's certainly not a replacement for Eto'o. At Getafe he scored 9 goals in 32 games and then 17 goals in 35 games. Sure, at Mallorca he scored 29 in 42, but this year he only scored 14 goals in 42 games. He'd make a good backup, but he's not a number 9 and he's definitely not better than Bojan.
Hopefully this isn't a serious option.

If not Villa, Llorente would be a better option than Guiza, period. Llorente might not be perfect to be a Barca '9' today, but atleast he has got the qualities required to be so, which need to be strengthened of course. And what more??? He will be a very good target man for Alves and Filipe(!!!) Get Llorente, send Keirri on loan for a season and I guess we are all set for next season as far as our 1st defending layer is considered :) Henry, Eto'o, Messi, Bojan, Llorente. Sounds more than good to me. Was n't there a lot of speculation during copa final linking us with Llorente? I wonder what might have happened :(
if Villa fails and we can buy guiza for cheap, i'd buy him in a beat.
he can be a good back up and we dont have to break the bank.
and i like that pep "wanted to know more about the human qualities of the player". that says a lot about him.

BTW I would surely want an explanation from that anonymous guy who claimed we already signed villa, fab and BASTOS! And that Filip's deal is off!!
Seems like Filipe is gonna be our first signing and also Lille agreed a bid for Bastos from Lyon which obviously means Bastos doesn't belong to Barca. Congratulations anony you have successfully finished your task of wasting some one's time. Was so hurt to even consider Filipe was not going to be part of our team after having developed so much hope on the best LB of the season joining the Champions. And wasted a LOT of time trying to get to know about Bastos, of course it can not be called entirely waste considering the fact that Bastos is a very good player and could have been a very valuable addition for us :|

I think this would be a great transfer, i understand he's no Villa but that would be an awesome steal of a price for a back up.

Anti-Madrista you mean to say signing Guiza would be a very good bargain? NOOOO!!! He is too slow to be our striker don't you think? Leave aside him pressurizing opponent defenses, I don't think he would be able to even catch up with the killer throughs of Xavi, Iniesta and co. IMO Llorente for say 16-18 mill would be far better option

Guiza is not Barça quality.
its sheer shame tat barca has not signed any1 till now.. Jus get done wit Luis Flippe or Andre Santos.. Also If villa thing dsnt materialize i think Guiza is a better option than Diego Forlan who will cost 20-25 Mill euro which i think is insane for player in thirtees .. 15Mileuro for Guiza wud b a gr8 deal i think..
IMO guiza is the last option, and he will be a back up. so even if we buy him we still need a first team CF, it maybe etoo again, or villa, or maybe forlan.
@ANTI - backup for whom? etoo doesnt want to stay...
BTW, sport says etoo will be back at the camp nou for pre season training on monday. and that the filipe deal will be closed today.

AC, I saw a BBC report that Adebayor was snapped up by MC.
IMO, I'm sure we'll get Villa as I'm sure the board will relent and pay the 50mil towards the end of the transfer season (panic buying). That would also means we'll have to forget about other signings as we won't have enough funds.
