Expensive Mascherano is not a priority

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Liverpool has asked Barcelona a transfer fee of 50 million euro° for Liverpool defensive midfielder and Argentine international Javier Mascherano (25).

Although Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would have reached a pre-agreement after having met with the player's agent a few days ago, Barcelona wouldn't be willing to pay that fee, certainly because the player isn't a priority for the club.

Mascherano would in fact be the last name on the wish list of Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola, who supposedly first wants to sign a centre forward, a left winger, a central defender and a full-back.

Same thing i said earlier today, Liverpool would want crazy money for mascherano, and arsenal will want crazy money for arshavin. Looks like no signings this summer

Screw signings yes, Promote gai thiago muniesa keep hleb and guddy bring in henrique. Get Milito fit and throw up two middle fingers at clubs trying to charge us exorbitant fees and lets go. Barca FTW.

Mascherano was never an option, he was only used by media to put presure on yaya to sign new contract.

His two agents were in Barcelona so I don't think (I hope not) we would go so far to let those people come over if they weren't interested, Anony.

felipe mello could be a great addition. although he recently renew his contract, fiorentina still considering a sale if the money is good, rumors say they are negotiating w/ arsenal and juventus.

We can pay out Melo's contract for only half of what we would have to pay for Mascherano. I think Melo is just as good as Masch defensively and a much better passer and shooter. Can cover both Toure at DM and Xavi as the creative midfielder. I think we can offer him and Fiorentina more money than what Arsenal can offer.

I do believe too that he was never an option, just to put pressure on both Yaya and Liverpool, so they wouldn't sell Alonso to Madrid or raise the price to the maximum so Madrid wouldn't buy Mascherano.
