Eto'o is in Milan

Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28) is in Milan, where he is kept hidden from the press.

After negotiations yesterday evening between the player's agent, Josep Maria Mesalles, and Inter Milan officials, the difference between offer and demand would only be 1 million euro. While Eto'o has reportedly dropped his salary demands from 12 million euro to 11 million euro (plus incentives), Inter would have raised their offer from 9 to 10 million euro (plus incentives).

The duration of the contract would already have been agreed upon with Eto'o, who would also be negotiating with Barcelona about his exit bonus, expected to sign a five-year deal with the Italian champions. A new meeting would be planned later this morning and a deal is believed to be close.

not true trez.ronnie clould get 15% of the transfer money for his move to milan.but he dropped the demand.thats why we sold him for 21 m euro rather than 25.as far i know there is no such clause in eeto'o's contract.

For the Eto'o bashers, we know you want to portray him as a greedy guy but apart from the argument that EVERY footballer is greedy and wants to have the last penny from the club, you can't deny that if it would have been all about the money:

1. he would have been in Uzbekistan last summer
2. he would have been in City earlier this summer

He's entitled to an exit bonus like every employee who gets kicked out by his company before the end of the contract. You can't blame him for that.

And Zlatan will also get an exit bonus from Inter, that's in the contracts of most players: part of the transfer fee the club recieves goes to the player. Live with it.

I suspect we may have a few less people on this board after this deal goes through because some people think the name of the club is FC Samuel Etoo. Maybe there is an fcitransfers.blogspot.com somewhere that they can join.

Imagine i am on soccernet having to argue with people that barcelona is not racist for selling etoo. And one dude even suggested that barcelona if they were not racist could have sold henry instead of etoo to bring new blood into the squad. LOL. Isnt henry black? Or is it only racist to sell etoo?

exit money are in the contract people,yes its true ,many of you dont know cause its not on football manager but every player gets money for a transfer or a contract break.

i bet it will be in the amounts of 1-6 million.this wont be a stone in the transfer negotiations,both teams know this.

groga I am sick of this argument that if he wanted money he would have left for those pits of shit. he is willing to sacrifice the extra million he will earn there to get to play with teams like Inter and compete in the highest level which is the dream of everyone, and because it makes advertisments, winning bonuses, and fame which is priceless. Adebayor chances to actually win something are higher now with Man City than with Arsenal .

Eto'o is not smart. He shoud close the deal soon as he can. He has got 2 injuries in the knee. If he decides to stay one year in barça and got injuried again... he'd earn nothing...

He shoud take 9mil per year and the 5 years inter offers.

JT is yet to say he would stay at Chelsea. That the power of "£$"
R10 couldnt make such demands because he wasnt playing football when he left. AC was taking a huge risk. Eto is still firing, so he thinks he can place demands.
And nobody would follow Eto to Italy. yes, some of us like him, like we like some other players in the team, but thats not to say we put Eto before the Club.
My order is Club-Players-Board.
Notes I did not say Club>Player>Board.
I wish Eto all the best for the future and I wish Ibra loads of goals for FC Barca

he is not outsmarting anyone, any average fan knew his intention since last season, if he outsmarted them he would have left for free next season. I have seen much smarter moves by players than this, the fact that he is trying to do so in itself justify the Guardiola reasoning that Eto'o "feels" bad.

Imo: eto'o's done really great and i think we don't know the entire story. But at this moment in team, please dude, sign the contract, because otherwise, we'll have some serious problems up front..

Adding to that: I think Zlatan as an individual player is a bit better, but eto'o's hunger and madrid-hate were always nice to watch :-). by bringing in Zlatan, the team as a whole might play even better! We'll see.. anyways, you can't expect to win the treble again, it might happen but chances are slim..

This year i would prefer winning the CL than the liga: no-one has won it 2 times in a row and winning it in Madrid, the same madrid that spend over 200 mill to win that CL.. SWEEEEET

they are ready to pay Forlan clause to get a striker instead of him, but Atletico are smart enough to know that Eto'o in the dressing room is unbearable.
a player that wins so many trophies with a team yet manage to make the fans ask him to leave is the stupidest person ever. actually it takes some capabilities to reach such a feet, I salute you Eto'o and all who are going to follow you to the path of higher pay. his madrid ating brought nothing to us in past 2 seasons prior last season.we lst shamelessly in bernabu.pep came and identified the problem.he wanted ronnie,deco and eto'o out.first 2 players left quietly.only eto'o forced his stay.he had to prove something after spending last 2 seasons outside football pitch due to injury.messi,xavi and iniesta helped him to raise his stock.now he gets fat money from inter.he should just leave now without bringing any more trouble for pep

Didnt you hear what he said, i will stay until the club doesnt want me anymore. Those are the kind of players we want. But i repeat Cruyff came and left Maradona came and left romario came and left rivaldo came and left ronaldinho came and left and all of them were greater than etoo and iniesta. not really fret I saw ronaldinho go out, same with Rivaldo and Kluivert and never complained to the point of calling fc barcelona names. the only time I questioned the board was selling Ronaldo, we had no cover for him and sold him for big money, that was a greedy act, see?? when I see barcelona board acting greedy I call it out. but I can't blame Laporta hte same person who brought Eto'o when GUardiola wants him out. if Xavi came out tomorrow and started asking for pay rise I will shoot him in the foot.

his asking was reasonable because he creates players like Eto'o and he is a product of the youth system, and he earns less than Eto'o!!!! and even after the pay rise he earns less than Eto'o. and he didn't create all that noise Eto'o is making, and once again there were many clubs willing to pay him his worth if we didn't. but with Eto'o, he is allrady paid more than what he is worth. and yes we hate him..why don't he just leave.
and leave barcelona to its loyal sons like Guardiola who has given this team his entire career until he wasn't wanted. in pep we trust.

he said he wants to end his career at Rosario, just like Eto'o wants to end his career at Mallorca.

Eto'o is at least being honest, you believe all those emotional stories about "club love". Don't be naive, it's all about the money. If Xavi wouldn't have gotten his payrise last year, he wouldn't have signed the renewal. That's not wrong, that's just the way it is. They have a market value and wants to turn that into money.

get sick of stupid talk by some people here, all the time about etoo. this blog was a place to discuss and having debates before some of you freaks climbed down from your trees and lowed down the level with immatury talk.
it's not about like etoo or not, it's about praising our players for what they did for our club, or criticize them with intelligent opinions and well-thaught arguments.
to me, i don't care about the business-stuff, as it's beyond the reach of anyone here, not involved into any action, without having the possibility to make decisions.
etoo will ever be a legend, even in 50 years, when most here are six feet deep and nameless, people will look back and remind him, as a part of the first spanish team, that won the treble, when they speak about one of the best barca-teams in it's history (who knows or cares, how the character of the players of the '92 squad were? no one, because that's not what counts. that's what makes the club big).
no one knows etoos or laportas or txikis or peps character and it's ridiculous to discuss about it, as for the TRUE fan, as a spectator from the outside, the performances should be important, which from etoo were always best and exemplary on the pitch, as also said and endorsed by his teammates (like xavi and puyol, who spoke last year of him, as the best signing after he stayed - CHARACTER!). he especially showed a good character, after he were told he's unwanted, but helped the team, even after that to win everything (all pieces of a whole must work to bring that success).
but sometimes fans seem to be like b******, as they fast forget what earlier was important.
would like to see zlatan too, but it's a sign of character, what makes also, not just a good fan, but also a good cule, to let him go in peace, after many here surely celebrated his goals too, and now turning into snakes, which is a natural thing by some characters and b***** in the world.
to call cules madridista or advice them to go to interblogs, etc. is also a lack of character and surely also a sign, that for some the evolution from monkey to human was never completed.
think about it and ask the man in the mirror...i'm out, afraid that dumbness could be infectious.
to all true cules, ONE LOVE & BARCA FOREVER, you know what makes our club, really more than a club!!!!!

A Rod, Kobe and all these other American 'World Champions' (what garbage) earn more money than football players b/c their clubs don't have to pay transfer fees.

Once their contract finishes the become 'free agents' and can negotiate with any team they want. Sure they have 'trades' but really the players usually dictate what they want and where they want to go.

They try to balance it out with a 'salary cap' but the proof is that these francises move cities every few years once the owners make their money and when the teams go in decline.

You can't compare American sports with football. They have little tradition as their clubs change cities all the time and it's all about money.

I don't care how much Eto'o and Ibra earn. If they can get top dollar and clubs are willing to pay their salaries that's their problem. I just want Barca to finish on top.

I don't attack the board for the decision, I do for the way they handled it. Which was not "more than a club" but "less than a club".

And Guardiola doing his statements in public first, can we agree that that wasn't very educated? Or are we attacking the whole club and are we "no real fans" by making that remark?

Like i said, the board made a total mess of this issue and handled it very badly. If you didnt want etoo, why not call etoo to a meeting, look him in the eye man to man and say "samu its been 5 years of great service, we thank you but we no longer count on you, you are free to look for a club that you like and we will make a deal happen", instead of saying there is this great offer from man city and running to every media house to talk about how great this offer is.

Let me start by stating that I love Eto'o as a person and as a footballer. I like his passion and really wish him all the best in Inter if the deal goes through. I also beilieve that its his right to ask for money and negotiate and nothing is wrong with that. However, I really trust and have faith that Gurdiola is doing the best for the team. When a team wins everything change is sometimes needed to stimulate the hunger for success. Also Ibra will be a tactical solution for teams which choose what I like to call the "Anti-Football approach". Add to that, economically Ibra will defenitely sell more shirts than Eto'o. To me its a no-brainer to go ahead with this deal. Anybody who opposes this deal is probabbly among the same people who opposed Pep Gurdiola appointment as FCB manager last summer and now hail his victories!

pep, I'm glad you decided to get involved . Until recently I was impressed with this blog and checked on several times a day . However, as you can see, some posters are getting too "personal "with other posters just because the y happen to disagree with them . It is sad in a way . Let's hope people would stop fighting and try to be more OBJECTIVE and RESPECTFUL !!
