I love Mascherano, one of the best in his position as a DM and can play more attacking as well. Knows spanish, knows messi..

But if you look in the long run, not a good buy: a lot of money for a player that is needed especially (not only) because we'll be missing two players in january and because then we can put touré in CB when needed.

But next year, we won't miss those 2 and we can buy a talented CB or a more attacking CM because by then we might need to look for a replacement of Xavi (wouldn't want to be in a position where he stops or gets slower and we need to look for one then): someone like Cesc f.e.

30 mill is too much for a position needed to make the squad bigger.

if we dont buy a new left winger it would be Iniesta who will take this position and then leave a place for mascherano in the midfield . i dont see who barça can buy for the left winger position,we cant count on thierry to do the job all the season as he is often injured so i think we should buy a quality player in the midfield.

we dont need replace for DM, because Yaya and Keita are leaving in january. We have Busquets who can get a lot of experience during that time. Also for DM backup we have Maxwell, Pique and Marquez. If Pep made yaya play CB, they can play DM.
All we need is a creative midfielder.

Think before you say something! I meant speed in his passing, handling, thinking.. Not his time on the 100 mtrs.

I saw practically every game last year!

Xavi is 29, so he can on for a few years. But i don't want a Milan-kinda problem. He's an icon, but barca comes first, so one day he'll have to make place.

We have Yaya and Busquets who can play that position. If they can’t we have Rafa Marquez and Henrique who are both listed as pivotes on fcbarcelona.com - If they too are injured we have Keita, Maxwell and Pique who can play the position.

Why in HELL spend the rest of our transfer budget on yet ANOTHER DM when it’s clear that it is an attacking midfielder we need? If Hleb leaves we only have Xavi, Iniesta, Keita and Guddy, and Iniesta might play a bit on the left winf aswell. Thats 4 players on two positions. THIS is where we need to strengthen.

Is this just be a ploy by Barca to scupper Madrid's attempt to get Xabi Alonso from Liverpool? I mean with Ibra's acquisition we're supposed to have little funds left and we know Benitez insist none of these integral players will leave, so by making it known we're after Masch, L'pool will be more steadfast in their rejection. RM seems to spoil much of our transfer targets this season so I guess it's payback time.

We have Toure and Busquets for that position, why buy another...

Toure is the best in the world at this moment and Busquets has proven he is a good replacement for Toure...

When you buy Mascherano you bring trouble in the group because Toure and he want to be first choice...

Strange, very strange because we need a few players on other places in the team more!

does it not seem a bit funny to everyone that when madrid speak about there intrest for alonso,elmundo speak about mascherano,could it not be that barca are tryin to destroy madrids move,i cant see barca buyin this lad cause he"s not good enough for or team.if they really want a good player they should go for alonso.every liverpool fan i spoke to about mascherano doesnt seem to think he"s all that good.waist of money if its true but i dont think it is

Keita is NOT NOT NOT a defensive midfielder in Barcelona. He only played ONE game in that position and that was the very last game whem everything was one and we played with only Atletic-players on the pitch.

IT should be clear to anyone who has watched the game that Keitas role in barcelona is tro play as an offensive midfielder next to Xavi. His mission is to make deep end runs to open up the defense.

Have you not watched the games???

The people listes as defensive midfielders on fcbarcelona.com are Yaya, Busquets, Marquez and Henrique.

Keita plays as back up in the position next to Xavi. He only played DM against Depor at Raizor.

But in an interview Keita said "I am a defensive mid"
