Meeting on Mascherano in Barcelona

Catalan radio station RAC 1 claims that Barcelona officials met representatives of Liverpool defensive midfielder and Argentine international Javier Mascherano (25) yesterday.

The meeting took place in the Rey Juan Carlos I hotel in Barcelona and lasted from 5 to 7 pm. Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain and Barcelona director of football Raül Sanllehi, the player's agents Walter Tamer and Federico Vitali as well as an intermediary took part.

Mascherano is willing to join Barcelona and a deal between the player and the club will not be an obstacle. Barcelona could now use the wish of the Argetinian to put pressure on Liverpool, who nevertheless doesn't seem to have plans to let him go.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool could be asking 30 million euro° for Mascherano, while Barcelona would only be ready to pay 20 million euro°. *British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona will have to make a bid of 53 million euro° or include Barcelona defensive midfielder and Ivorian international Yaya Touré (26) in the deal.*

Aussie Barca Fan said...: I am seeing a straight swap with either Yaya or Eto'o on the cards. But I also just read that Eto'o is close to agree terms with Man City. I hope we can still keep Yaya and I think Masch would be a good addition for the right price.

marko said...: I would love Masche. And mind you, Mascherano doesn't exclude Yaya as he can play CM without problems. Actually, before he came to us, he played attacking midfielder many times.
Getting Masche means we'll have a deeper midfield with great rotation possibilities.

skanjos said...: i can see a deal at 25,but guddy has to leave to bring some cash back 5-7mil.we have to sell to this year to bring replacments. mascherano is a great player and will help the team alot.we are focusing on dms alot.but dont forget that the players we have are very creative from busquets to yaya and keita.

They are also mentioning a possiblity of a swap deal with Yaya Touré..

so our players are the best in the world. who would be so stupid to underrate the market value of the own players? surely not barca.

maybe in some days we will read:

"Ribery is about to join Barca. Barca is willing to pay 120 mio eur. Messi could be included in the deal to lower the fee."

DMF is Mascherano
CMF is Xavi
AMF is Yaya(as Pep said his natural position)
In attack on left wing can play Iniesta
CF could be Etoo or Villa if we get him
and of course on right side Messi.
And half of season Keita , Yaya , Etoo will be playing for their national team so Mascherano will be the best option for the game.
And dont forget Busquets he could replace Xavi or Yaya .
With Mascherano we have a lot of option in middle.

My opinion . I prefer Mascherano rather then VILLA !
why ? cuz Etoo can play at same level or even higher then Villa ,Henry is still there , and Bojan if he dont go on load.They in barca should think about this one.; 18 June 2009 at 01:21

pep said...: I tried something, the updated part is between the i-don't-know-how-you-call-those-things in red.

Sometimes it's not easy though, because you also have to change the earlier part, so then it's not really possible to clearly indicate were the updated part starts.
