Hleb could be included in Ashley Young bid

British tabloid The Daily Star claims that Barcelona is ready to make a 30 million euro° bid for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young (23) (read more here).

Barcelona's technical has reportedly been following the English player during the past season and would now prepare a concrete offer. Barcelona might try to include Barcelona attacker and Belarusian international Alexander Hleb (28) in the deal.

A Spanish source is quoted by the tabloid as saying: "Young has been impressive all last year with Villa and at times with England. He finished the season well and he is a player that Guardiola likes.

He has been following him for a while and we hope that he will want to come to a club as big as Barca and move to Spain. There has been no contact yet but the club are firming up their plans at the moment."

R10FCB said...: he is one of those classic wingers were they are the fast players who run down the field and cross the ball into the centre of the box for the striker. just like what dan r said, barca needs more of a winger who can score goals.
young is great for formations like 4-4-1 but im not too sure if he would be that good in barca.; 20 June 2009 at 02:54

JR said...: Young is not a pure winger at all, he has great technical skills and scores goals, opposed to what most of you here are saying (which makes me think most of you have never seen him play either). And he's a far better player than Hleb, and a far better goalscorer as well. Don't forget Young is playing for Aston VIlla and not for one of the top teams that score 2 goals per game.

Kxevin said...: Theo Walcott with ball skills? I'll take it. I can't see Villa being crazy enough to do the deal, though. If they want to reach that next level, you need a winger like that. When you talk about a left wing who can outrun everyone down the pitch and lay in a cross for a striker, that's the kind of bus-breaking tactic that would work with Henry as the central striker, someone with sufficient pace to get on the end of said cross.; 20 June 2009 at 04:32

SJP said...: everyon saying we need more depth in midfield then saying we should sell hleb and guddy? guddy, although i really like him as a professional has probably had his time at barca, hopefully he'll go to EPL and do well. hleb? needs more time but if e can be used for transfer then maybe. as for young, i don't reckon alt of you have seen him play too much, for the past two season he has been one of te EPL most consistent players, for 15mil be would be very good buy, he's quicker than messi, has good technique and give him a striker like llorente and it will rain goals at the nou camp! only issue is price and better options.; 20 June 2009 at 07:31
