he surely is better than mascherano and fits the profile better too! can defend, can attack, can head. good technical skills. But I doubt he'll be a fix starter. Do these guys want to come to have bench roles???

I really think we need more another AM than a DM. While we havewseveral options at DM, we don't have real back-up for Iniesta and Xavi. Keita can play there but he's a different type.

De Rossi is among the best holding midfielders in the world, twice the player of Yaya.
Only Pirlo and Essien is in his class.
If we have a chance at him, we should go for it.

De Rossi is one of the best players in the world. Unfortunatley for clubs that want him, he is Roman. Inter, A.C and Juve have tried to get him in the past. He is too loyal to Roma. If Barca did get him then their midfield would be the best midfield i've seen in the last 10 years.

I don't understand why people seem to underestimate toure! I didn't see essien winning one to ones to toure!and essien is indeed one of the best! btw keita is very good too. The reinforcement we get for the midfield just won't be a starting player. just a good addition to the squad.So there's no need for an expensive player like mascherano for example. I surely would bring in emana.cheap and good player. Spend the money on other things!(ribery, aguero, robinho..)

I think De Rossi is an all round midfielder who can be either AM or DM. Having him around can be a rotation for both. So I actially think he is a better buy than Mascherano. But will he settle as a rotation player?

I would honestly choose mascherano over de rossi without thinking twice...mashcherano work rate is uncomparable to de rossi. But if get one of them they will surely be starters and not bench warmers like what some of you say...true that de rossi can play a more advanced role, but we dont need cover for that position because as things stand we havee xavi, iniesta, hleb, and gudjohnson. Having Mascherano next to Yaya Toure and Xavi in midfied will push Iniesta to the left flank and give us the oppertunity to rotate and rest henry, remember guys he will be 32 years old with the start of next season. Some of you guys brought up Essien, and yes he is world class and even more versatile compared to mashcherano since he can cover the right back position with ease, but then again the whole point of this addition is to cover for the absence of Yaya Toure and Keita in the African Nations Cup.

de rossi 2x yaya my arse! yaya dominated every mifdfield he played against this season, no-one is better than him.

as for de rossi he is not barca quality, just look at the confed cup, yes the whole italian team was a shambles but de rossi was woeful, plus he's italian, not that i've got anything against italians personally but they neve succeed in barca.

if we what a DM we should compete with arsenal for De Melo, he has been really good for brazil and would cost half the price of mash and de rossi. also that andre santos looks really good,although maybe too attacking.

nothing...they just talk and talk and talk that they want those players but nothing have done!!!

please just sign the player not just talking...

I mentioned Essien, but only to compare DM, not as an option.
I wouldn't mind trading him for Yaya, but I think he's fixed at Chelsky.
I agree that we shouldn't give everything for De Rossi. If he can be bought for around 20-30 mil € I think we shold go for him. If we could get Aquilani as well and then sell Keita and Yaya, to get a little money back.
Then we would, not only cover ACN, but also upgrade the team.

De Rossi is an excellent player and would easily complement this Barca team. He is the backbone of Roma and works really hard. He is also versatile but I highly doubt he will leave Roma. He is the new club icon like Totti has been.

de rossi was in the past, also for me, one of the best defensive midfielders out there.
but to buy him from roma, as he's a roman too, needs surely much money and believe that there are other options out there that fit much better in our team. as felipe melo, who has at the moment a high with the brazilian national team, not like de rossi, who struggles at the italian national games.
was ever an admirer of him, but think after the last games i saw from him, his prize would not warrant his skills at the moment.
under 30 millions, is not even worth to think about him, as i believe that roma wouldn't let him go under this prize, so make your own opinions.

barca wouldnt buy a player w/ crazy money. thats why we are considering things and making negotiations, IN THE BACK. not like madrid, just slap sums of cash, make it PUBLIC and they will get the player.
the stuff you hear, a lot of it is just rumors from the media. they are doing their job pretty well, making you frustrated.
just think about it, why would we pay someone like, ibra, ribery, or villa for 60-90mil, or mascherano for 40-50mil, when we could there is still so much time till august, and by then maybe the clubs will lower the transfers. they are not willing to sell for the players real market value, just becuz RM bought CR for 80.
relax, just trust the club. if you are sick of it, then dont support it. dont let the rumors get in to you, just enjoy it.
for me its fun to discuss the transfers just for the sake of imagination.
the trust and support comes first. thats what a fan should always do.
just relax, we will get the players we need, and all will be good. :)

but, i believe no matter what happen, we will still be as great and competitive like last season. Pep and the board is really thinking and working hard for that. (but w/ negotiations.. :p)
anyways, i know we are all really excited for next season. (cant wait till august, but must watch transformers first 24june :p) next season would be great and a lot more competition.. :)

pirlo is not the dm he once was i keep telling you all to stop living in the past, he was horrible for most of the season. carrick is the unsung hero of manchester and is way better than the other under him. mascherano is nothing else but a dm he has no quality going forward like those above him. pirlo could never eat de rossi and M.Diarra is the sole reason why real madrid won la liga this guy is one of the best and real are fools for letting him go, he is rated highly by many people except ignorant barca fans like you who only know about players by hearing their name read on your history before talking shit.
