Best DM in the world. No doubt about it. Essien will fit in perfectly in Pep's system.

You can even make a case that Essien POUND FOR POUND is the best in the world.

I would be happy to see Essien in Barcelona. Essien is 4x the player that Toure is. I been saying this for years now. Barcelona have to sign Essien!!!!!!11

I actually don't think he would ft our system as DM, more as AM in for example a Toure-Essien-Xavi midfield. Our DM should stay in position while Essien is better when he can move more freely.

yaya and essien in the barca midfield... ronaldo and kaka will be powerless. if essien come in for 30-40 (same money like mascherano), i will chose him. with him no team, even chelsea, can't stay in our way.

Essien and Yaya are so much more than deffensive midfielders. Many people do not know that Essien can attack very well also. Mourinho just stuck him as a DM but he can go forward as well. Yaya has shown his skill as well. It would be great in those difficult away games to see a midfield with Yaya and Essien murdering the opposing midfield and giving xavi the ball to find a front three of iniesta etoo messi.

lol, this transfer wouldn't be reasonable.

So, we would have 3 africans who can play DM. During the ACN we would have only Busquets, so it just makes no sense.

this is a trick for chelsea to raise essien's fee. you just don't pop out just like that 3 weeks after the market started talking bout the player could leave and mention the biggest clubs in the market now. real madrid, barcelona and other clubs?? he called those two names knowing if anyone could sign someone this season it's real or barca cause for real they have tons of money they borrowed that they won't be able to pay back and barcelona haven't sign anyone yet but are linked with all the world's best. essien isn't going anywhere and he'll get paid 7.5 mil a year.

he is the best DM.

ok guy , he's good , great , fantastic or even perfect , just one little problem , as much as i like essien but do we really need another midfielder who will go to the ACN??
the only reason guardiola is looking for a DM is because of the ACN .

i would think if he was signing a DM only for ACN then a loan would be appropriate. gaurdiola is not thinking of ACN he wants a bigger squad to avoid injuries and suspensions, we were lucky to escape with minor injuries last season but everyone saw how suspensions was hurting us. manu do well cause they have proper world class back up. gaurdiola is bringing change to barcelona and i can't wait to see barca next season.

essien is more of a keita player rather than yaya. goes box to box, defends and attacks. possibly one of the best CM in game but not better than yaya at being out and out DM. i like keita but essien would be a marked improvement, but he wont come, doubt he'll leave chelsea, all their players are trying to prove their worth to ancellotti.
