Lionel Messi dedicated his two goals against Real Madrid to people suffering from the fragile X syndrome, a genetic problem which results in a spectrum of characteristic physical, intellectual, and behavioural features, going from learning problems to the Down syndrome.

Therefore he exposed a shirt reading "Síndrome X Fràgil" from the
Catalan fragile X syndrom association. Messi, who is especially close to the cause because he had hormonal complications himself as a child which lead to growth problems, and his family are supporting the organization, not only financially but also through promotional acts and meetings with children affected by the syndrome.

Last month, Messi had promised children and members from the association that he would dedicate a goal to them. Since he didn't receive the shirt until last Friday, when his brother Rodrigo went to pick it up, Messi was only able to dedicate a goal last Saturday, but the waiting was probably worth it.
