Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool is interested in Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (28), whose contract expires in the summer of 2010.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez would want Eto'o to play alongside Fernando Torres and would even prefer to wait until 2010, when Liverpool could sign the striker for free.
British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims that Liverpool wants to bring in Eto'o at the end of this season. British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Liverpool could offer Barcelona a transfer fee of 13,5 million euro.
British tabloid The Sun claims that Liverpool will make Barcelona a bid of 20 million euro and offer Eto'o a four-year deal worth a little 8 million euro a year. A source close to Eto’o is quoted by the tabloid as saying: "Benitez likes Samuel a lot. Everything is possible for this summer. It will depend on Barcelona’s results as well if they decide to buy David Villa. Eto’o is not a player to sit on the bench."
