Asked about the future of Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o (27), Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that he's in favour of a contract renewal:

"He's the best forward in the world and I would be delighted if Samuel would continue. In those five years he's with us, his performances have been great while several people said it wouldn't even last for six months. The sporting criteria will have priority over the economic criteria. If we cannot meet his demands to renew, we'll look for a solution that satisfies both parties. But if his demands are within our reach, he will surely stay."

Laporta already said last week in an interview with Spanish radio station Radio Punto that the club wants to renew the contract of Eto'o: "Our plan is that Eto'o stays at Barça for many more years. He's a non-conformist but without that he wouldn't be the goalscorer he is. His character motivates the team. I want to renew his contract, although this always depend on two parties. We've postponed the talks and a decision until the end of the season."
