Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona will soon meet with Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés (26), whose current contract expires in 2010 and who is represented by his father, to talk about a contract renewal.

While the club has told the paper that the renewal negotiations haven't yet started, other sources indicate that the first talks have aleady been held and that the outcome was rather negative (read more here).

Asked about a possible renewal, Valdés did not want to enter the issue at a press conference last month: "I have a contract until the summer of 2010 and until then I will try to get better and reach certain objectives. I prefer not to talk about the other things or to comment on it."
